Ander Herrera: I understand what Mourinho wants and what he demands from me
Ander Herrera has done well this season for Manchester United under manager Jose Mourinho. The midfielder says he enjoys playing under the manager because he understands what Mourinho wants and what he demands of him.
Ander Herrera transferred from Athletic Bilbao to Manchester United back in 2014. His first couple of seasons under Louis van Gaal were a bit of a mixed pleasure, this season, the midfielder has done really well. In fact so well that he has become a regular on Manchester United’s Premier League team.
Jose Mourinho has placed the Spanish midfielder in a defending midfield position, which he enjoys.
-Personally, it is going really well. I understand what Mourinho wants, and what he demands of me. To be 10’er in a major club like this you must at least score 15 goals per season. In my career, I have never done that, Ander Herrera said according to Cadena Ser.
-I wish I could do that, but I have to adjust. The most intelligent is to adjust when you see there an open place and that is what I am trying to do, he continued.
-In my new position – in front of the defence – I can aid the team a lot. I can win the ball back, and I can also spread the game easier. I watch football from a very privileged position, where I can predict the game, win the ball and build up our play. I believe the manager is happy with me, Ander herrera told Cadena Ser.
So far this season, Ander Herrera has made an appearance in 11 out of 15 matches for Manchester United. He has made an appearance in a total of 60 Premier League matches and scored nine goals since 2014.
Ander Herrera has been playing for Spain’s youth national teams since 2009, when he debuted onto their U20 national team. He played ten matches and scored three goals. From 2009 through 2011, he played 15 matches for the U21 national team and scored four goals. He has been part of the U23 team since 2012 and has played a total of five matches for that team.
