Athletic Bilbao beats Real Sociedad 3-2

Sunday afternoon, Athletic Bilbao faced off against Real Sociedad at San Mames in Barria in a La Liga showdown. Real Sociedad had the best start, a quarter of an hour into the first half, David Zurutuza sent Real Sociedad’s only attempt into goal, giving them a 0-1 lead. Athletic Bilbao’s had several chances, but failed to capitalise on it and thus the first half ended with a 0-1 lead to Real Sociedad.
Six minutes into the second half, Iker Muniain sent the ball into goal and settled the score to 1-1 for Athletic Bilbao. A quarter of an hour into the half, Aritz Aduriz sent the ball into goal and thus Athletic Bilbao in the lead for the first time in the match.
About a quarter of an hour later, Inaki Williams sent the ball into goal for the first time, this season, giving Athletic Bilbao a 3-1 lead.
It looked like the match was over, but with five minutes left of the second half, Inigo Martinez sent the ball into goal and reduced the score to 3-2, which was also the final result of the match.
With the victory today, Athletic Bilbao moves up into fifth place of La Liga with 15 points in eight matches, just below Barcelona in fourth place with 16 points in eight matches and just above Villarreal with 13 points, but in seven matches. Athletic Bilbao has three points up to Atletico Madrid who is currently in first place of the table with 18 points in eight matches.
Real Sociedad is currently in tenth place of La Liga with ten points in eight matches, just below Alaves in ninth place also with ten points in eight matches and just above Celta de Vigo in 11th place also with ten points, but they have only played seven matches.
