Fenerbahce beats Manchester United 2-1 while Zorya and Feyenoord draw 1-1

Thursday evening, Fenerbahce faced off against Manchester United and won 2-1, while Zorya played Feyenoord and drew 1-1 in the fourth round of Group A of Europa League.

As Manchester United faced off against Fenerbahce at Old Trafford, they won and Thursday evening, they would try and follow up on that success.

Just two minutes into the first half, a ball was passed to Moussa Sow, who sent the ball into goal behind David de Gea with a kick in the air and thus sent Fenerbahce in the lead with 1-0.

Half an hour into the half, Paul Pogba suffered an injury and manager Jose Mourinho sent Zlatan Ibrahimovic onto the pitch. Shortly after, Zlatan Ibrahimovic and Fenerbahce’s Simon Kjær chased the ball side by side until the Swedish international came to close to Simon Kjær, who made his distain apparent. Zlatan Ibrahimovic grabbed Simon Kjær by the neck, but the fourth referee and Jose Mourinho quickly stepped in and separated the two.

About a quarter of an hour into the second half, Fenerbahce received a free kick right outside the box. Jeremain Lens kicked the ball close to the post and into goal and thus doubled Fenerbahce’s lead to 2-0.

With just minutes left of the match, often criticised Wayne Rooney sent the ball into goal and reduced the score to 2-1, which was also the final result of the match.

Zorya faced off against Feyenoord. About a quarter of an hour into the first half, Dirk Kuyt passed the ball across and into the box, where Nicolai Jørgensen rose up and headed the ball into and Feyenoord in the lead with 0-1.

Just minutes before halftime, Zorya recieved a penalty, which Rafael Forster missed, but he amends as he sent the rebound goal and settled the score to 1-1, which was also the final result of the match.

With the results today, Fenerbahce is currently in first place of the Group, while Feyenoord is in second both with seven points in four matches. Manchester United is in third place with six points in four matches.
