FIFA announces new award: The Best FIFA Football Awards

FIFA and the French football magazine, France Football have collaborated on the FIFA Ballon d’Or award for five years. But this year, that will change. Monday, FIFA announced that the are launching a new award for the best football players of the world – The Best FIFA Football Awards. France Football has thus revived the original Ballon d’Or.

FIFAFIFA and the French football magazine, France Football have, for five yeas, collaborated on the FIFA Ballon d’Or award. But, now, FIFA wants to find the Best Football Players of the World in a different way, so as of this year, the collaboration has ended.

Monday, FIFA announced that they are launching a brand new award for the best football players of the world, an award they call: The Best FIFA Football Awards.

France Football will still be organising the Ballon d’Or, which they have revived after FIFA decided to call off the collaboration on FIFA Ballon d’Or.

The original Ballon d’Or, which has been revived again, was not open to all players or based on votes from journalists as well as players, but the Ballon d’Or is an honour bestowed on Europe-based players by Europe-based journalists.

For the FIFA Ballon d’Or the scope was changed a bit; the winners of the FIFA Ballon d’Or were chosen by international journalists, managers and captains of the national teams under FIFA’s jurisdiction. Voters were provided with a shortlist of 23 players from which they could select three players and allot points to.

FIFA has announced that The Best FIFA Football Awards will not only award the Best Male Football Player of the World, but also the Best Female Football Player of the World as well as the Best Male Manager of the World and the Best Female Manager of the World. Puskas Award for the Best Goal, a Fair Play Award, a Fan Award and FIFPRO World 11 World Team.

The winners will be found based on a voting system, in which votes from captains of the national teams and managers count for 50 percent, while votes frommore than 200 represented medias and votes from a public online voting site will count for the last 50 percent.

The Best FIFA Football Awards will be held in Zurich January the ninth 2017.
