Milan beats Chievo 1-3 on away
Sunday evening, Milan faced off against Chievo on away in a Serie A match and won 1-3. Juraj Kucka, M’Baye Niang and Dario Dainelli scored for Milan, while Valter Birsa scored Chievo’s only goal.
Sunday evening, Chievo played AC Milan at Stadio Marc Antonio Bentegodi in a Serie A match. Ahead of the match, both clubs needed a victory to remain in the top of the best Italian league. Undoubtedly, Milan was the favourite ahead of the match, but Chievo could have proven a rather tricky task. They are currently still keeping up with top placed teams of the league.
About a quarter of an hour into the first half, Milan had their first attempt at Chievo’s goal, but it was saved on the line. In general, Milan dominated the first half and had most ball possession, so it was not undeserved when Juraj Kucka sent the ball into goal in the last minutes of the first half and gave Milan a 0-1 lead, which was also the score at halftime.
A single minute into the second half, M’Baye Niang sent the ball into goal and doubled Milan’s lead to 0-2.
With a quarter of an hour left of the match, Chievo fought back and gave the match new life. Valter Birsa sent the ball into goal and reduced Milan’s lead to 1-2.
Chievo fought hard for a settlement and seemed to shake Milan’s defence pretty good, but the focus on playing forward gave room in their defence.
In the last minutes of the match, Carlos Bacca paused right outside Chievo’s box and kicked the ball towards goal. On its way it hit Dario Dainelli, who directed the ball straight into goal and increased Milan’s lead to 1-3, which was also the final result of the match.
With the victory tonight, Milan is currently in third place of the Serie A table with 16 points in eight matches, just below Roma in second also with 16 points in eight matches and just above Napoli in fifth place with 14 points in eight matches. Milan is currently five points and two places below Juventus in first place. Chievo is currently in sixth place with 13 points in eight matches.
