Stephan El Shaarawy: I don’t know what happened – we should have won
Thursday evening, Roma drew 3-3 against Austria Wien in an Europa League match at home. Stephan El Shaarawy feels that Roma should have won and he says he does not know what happened.
Within a quarter of an hour, AS Roma’s Stephan El Shaarawy did his very best to aid his Serie A club to a victory in the Europa League match against Austria Wien, Thursday evening. Nevertheless, AS Roma had to settle for a 3-3 draw after Olarenwaju Kayode sent the ball into goal with less than ten minutes left of the match.
An hour and ten minutes into the second half, AS Roma was in fact in the lead with 3-1 and thus the match seemed settled. Towards the end of the match, AS Roma lost control of the match and completely collapsed allowing Austria Wien to score twice wihtin minutes.
Stephan El Shaarawy is very disappointed with the results. He feels AS Roma should have won the match and just do not know what happened towards the end of the match.
-I do not know what happened. The match was more or less settled, we were in complete control, but then we blacked out for two minutes. We keep on brining ourselves in good positions, but end of paying for loosing focus and letting in easy goals. It is unexplainable, Stephan El Shaarawy says according to Sky Sport Italia.
-We just had to hold on to the ball when we were in the lead with two goals. Of course I am happy with my two goals, but I am upset with the result. We should have won, he continued.
Despite not taking home three points, Thursday evening, Roma is still in the lead of Group E of the Europa League with the exact same amount of points as their opponent, Austria Wien.
Roma is currently in second place of the Serie A table with 16 points i eight matches, just above AC Milan also with 16 points in eight matches, but a lower goal score.
