Villarreal beats Celta de Vigo 5-0

Sunday evening, Villarreal played Celta de Vigo at home in a La Liga showdown and won 5-0. Roberto Soriano scored twice in quick succession, while Cedric Bakambu and Manu Trigueros each scored a single. Unfortunate Daniel Wass scored an own-goal.

Eight minutes into the first half, Roberto Soriano sent the ball into goal and scored Villarreal’s first goal, giving them a 1-0 lead. Less than five minutes later, he repeated the success and scored his second goal of the match and thus doubled Villarreal’s lead to 2-0.

About a quarter of an hour later, Cedric Bakambu sent the ball into goal and increased Villarreal’s lead to 3-0, which was also the score at halftime.

Less than five minutes into the second half, unfortunate Daniel Wass sent the ball into his own goal and thus scored an own-goal and increased Villarreal’s lead to 4-0.

In the overtime of the second half, Manu Trigueros also wanted to get on the board and sent the ball into goal and increased Villarreal’s lead to 5-0, which was also the final result of the match.

With the victory tonight, Villarreal is currently in fifth place of the La Liga table with 16 points in eight matches, just below Barcelona also with 16 points in eight matches and just above Athletic Bilbao in sixth place with 15 points in eight matches. Villarreal is currently two points away and three places below Atletico Madrid in first place of the La Liga table.

With the defeat today, Celta de Vigo is currently in 12th place of the La Liga table with ten points in eight matches, just below Leganes also with ten points in eight matches and just above Malaga in 13th place with nine points in eight matches. Celta de Vigo is currently three points and six places above the relegation line.
